Hello, how are you?

They say February is the Tuesday of months.

The daffodils; so brazenly brash and beautifully yellow are beckoning Spring, soothing my optimism and hope for some warmth on sun kissed walks by the sea.

Change happens in nature all around us. We try to hold back the sea but it won’t be held, and the coastline is metamorphic, despite all the sea defences.

We want it to be uniform, predictable and controlled, but like life, it ebbs and flows; Is calm then stormy.

Some of us embrace the journey and ride the waves. We might surf them, exhilarated, wind swept but sure footed atop a board, joyfully skilful.

Some of us thrash and panic, desperate to stay afloat, gasping for breathe, grasping at the slippery board, unable to scramble aboard.

It feels hopeless.

Send for the life boat.

Does that sound dramatic?

Ask any one who has been crippled by anxiety, or disabled by depression, they will probably identify with the second metaphor.

When I meet a new client, I often ask about previous counselling. They might reply in a disappointed way that it didn’t work.

There could be all manner of reasons why therapy didn’t work.

It can be a lengthy process incurring financial commitment. Without immediate results, we validate our feeling of hopelessness and go to our old and familiar patterns.

Ever join a gym but didn’t go?

Being open to change will help the counselling process.

Movement from being problem focussed into solution focussed is a treacherous journey.

It takes courage and faith… and hard work; much like the gym!

Are you contemplating change in your life?

I can help.

Climb aboard.

Have a nice Tuesday!

With love,
